Herbert was a manager who cared and nurtured the good in everybody around him. He was a first class mentor who did not tire to recognize the deserving. He listened, observed and empowered. I was lucky that he initiated me into the UNDP in Eritrea and the years I worked under his leadership were the best throughout my stay. Even after his retirement and moving back home, I would reach out knowing fully well I will be heard. It seemed distance didn’t matter.
He left us too soon! May the family find the fortitude to journey through these difficult days and may my boss, mentor, but most of all, my brother, rest in eternal peace. Goder
