The close ties between the McCleod and Solade-Adams families had their origins in far away Botswana.
It happened that my late Dad Mr. Solade Adams (God continue to rest His departed Gentle Soul) was on a duty tour with the Govt of Botswana whilst Mr Hebert McCleod was then working with the UN.
That personal friendship blossomed fast and it lasted long, embracing in due time, the rest of the members from both families.
The late Herbert Prince McLeod was – despite his excellent credentials – very modest in character. And he was a good man too, charitable in many ways.
He was a repository of leadership and governance expertise, of the kind and quality emerging and developed economies take pride in consulting. And I can also recall with much pride, his zeal and commitment to serving his country Mama Salone, through qualitative guidance, leadership support in development and policies reviews in the Ministry of Health and Sanitation, even at short notice.
Whether he was presiding or participating as a panelists, listening to Mr McLeod was a thrill and rare treats to an effusion of knowledge and patriotism – underpinned by profound love for family, friends and county.
Herbert was one Sierra Leonean who believed
that in the fullness of time, our country will become a great nation for one and all, especially through the judicious management of its natural wealth.
In my considered view, Mr McCleod will for long be remembered as among the special iconic breed of Sierra Leoneans.
I accordingly extend heartfelt condolences of the Solade-Adams family to his sorrowing wife, children and other members of his family
May God Almighty Continue To Rest His Gentle Soul In Eternal Peace.
AMEN!!
