I hereby send with a deep sense of sadness and sorrow heartfelt condolences to Mrs Mcleod, their children and all the close relatives my heartfelt condolences on the passing of of our dear boss and brother, Herbert. What most of us believe is an untimely passing of Herbert constitutes a profound loss to not only his family and friends, but also for numerous people within both the UNDP, the wider UN System and many Governments across Africa, that had continued to benefit from the invaluable services of Herbert even after his retirement from UNDP. To numerous young professionals who joined UNDP in the 1990s, particularly those from the African continent like myself, Herbert was a fountain of deep knowledge, experience, wisdom and inspiration. And he continued to be a source of these ideals right up to his passing. Importantly also, Herbert was an embodiment of kindness, zest for life as well as effective but kind leadership. He will be sorely missed and may his soul rest in eternal and blessed peace. May the Lord Almighty grant strength and force to his wife, children and family to go through these very difficult moments.
