Brian Ganson

I suspect that it is impossible to have worked with Herbert and not to have been deeply affected by him. He brought passion, rigour, empathy—and humour—to every endeavour. His called us to action on the development of African in ways that made one want to bring one’s best to the table. I will miss him sorely, as a co-author and as a co-conspirator; and at the same time, I will always have his optimism, his energy, and his commitment with me.
